When used in larger spaces, fire-resistant glass structures must withstand high temperatures for a minimum of 120 minutes. As a result, glass constructions must be heavy and thick, and this is one of the major problems faced by glass manufacturers today. Another problem is that fire-resistant glass is still relatively new to the glass market, and not all glass manufacturers know how to use it properly. The technical and constructional capabilities of fire-resistant glass are yet to be discovered. This, however, does not mean that this product does not have any future.
